Dog Days of Summer…
Is this what they mean by the dog days of summer? The Corps of Engineers seem to be in a summer time generation pattern - only generating during peak demand during the week and less on weekends. As we welcome the lower water levels compared to just a few months ago, these levels in combination with hot air temperatures, means it’s very important to take just a few extra minutes when reviving and returning our catches back into the Little Red River. It doesn’t take much to put extra stress on the trout, so let’s be good stewards of the river.
We will hopefully soon see some positive signs from our Cutthroat Trout egg planting last year. We were told that it would take a year or two before we began to see the results of the incubation and hatch. Cross your fingers and let us know if you catch one around the Jon’s Pocket area.
The Little Red River Foundation is excited to announce the addition of Andrew Parker and Tag Grace to the LRRF Board of Directors. Andrew recently served as an Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner and passionate about the Little Red River. Andrew considers the Little Red his home water and enjoys spending time on the river with his family. If you spend much time on the Red, you have probably seen Tag fishing. He brings excitement and a passion for fishing the Little Red. Tag lives on the Little Red (seen in the attached photo) and brings a background of non-profit experience, which will help us continue to improve the LRRF Foundation. We are sad to say farewell to Mark Saviers, who is stepping off the LRRF Board. Mark helped establish LRRF and has provided guidance and commitment to bring LRRF where it is today.
Eddie Drilling assumed the role of chairman of the LRRF board on September 1st. Eddie has served on the LRRF board since the beginning of the Little Red Foundation. Eddie and his family have had a place on the Little Red for several years and are currently in the process of building a new cabin. As a board, we are excited to have Eddie leading the Foundation.

Tell us what you think about the new website, let us know how we can improve and we would love for you to submit quality / high resolution photos for us to use.
We appreciate your membership in the Little Red River Foundation. As part of the new website upgrade, we also upgraded our database software to help us in communication with our members and membership renewals. If you are a current member, you should be receiving a renewal notice. If for some reason you do not receive a notice, please take it upon yourself to send in your membership dues and give us your email address. You can do that through the new website.
I’ve had the pleasure of serving as chairman of the LRRF board the past couple of years and will continue to serve on the LRRF board. I believe in this Foundation and I am happy to give back to the river that has given me so much joy over the years. I first fished the Little Red as a teen and, like me, it has changed over the years - developing wear, tear, and some aging pains, but also bringing the hope of new possibilities for the future.
Let’s all work together as the Little Red Foundation to fulfill our mission which is to preserve, protect and enhance the Little Red River’s natural beauty and resources while improving the overall fishing experience so that it earns a reputation as one of the top ten fisheries in the United States.
